Interpretation of basic knowledge of bearing maintenance

Bearing is one of the most easily damaged parts in small and medium-sized motors. Bearing damage may lead to noise, increased vibration, increased temperature, decreased equipment accuracy, and even motor damage.

In order to prolong the service life of bearings, the following elements should be paid attention to in the process of motor installation and use:

1. the installation of coupling

When using the coupling to connect the motor and equipment, it is necessary to avoid the axial force generated during installation from damaging the bearing. It is suggested that for the size of interference fit, heat sleeves should be used or installed on the shaft end face of the non-axial extension end to protect the bearing from the influence of large axial force.

2. the bearing lubrication

About 36% of bearing damage is caused by poor lubrication or improper use of grease. Small and medium-sized motors (80-355) should be replaced with grease after six months of continuous operation. If the grease is deteriorated or the bearing is hot, replace the grease immediately. When replacing, remove the old grease and clean the bearing and bearing cover, and then add a proper amount of new grease to fill 1/3-2/3 of the bearing room space.

3. pollution

Bearing is a precision part, and its normal operation will be affected by pollution. Therefore, the use environment of the motor must meet the requirements of the protection level.

4. fatigue

Overload, improper use or poor maintenance will affect the bearings. Research shows that 34% of the premature failure of bearings is caused by fatigue. Therefore, the motor should run under rated conditions to avoid overload.
